Introduction, New M38 Owner

Hi All

Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Dave, I live in Fort Worth.
At christmas my Dad gave me his 1952 M38 he bought in Pakistan in 1987. When he retired and came back to the States in 1993 he brought it back with him and it's been sitting in his carport in Arizona pretty much ever since.
The jeep is in pretty fair shape I managed to get it running when I picked it up and got it out to the desert for a little offroading. Probably hadn't been driven that much since he brought it back from Pakistan.



Currently in the process of cleanning it up and a little restoring. Replacing the exhaust, need to to hook-up the wiring for the lights and replace a wheel cylinder.

Oh, and if you look real close, I found my AK-47 fits nicely in th egun rack on the dash.

Welcome: Good to hear from you and congrats on the extremely nice Christmas present. From the looks of it and dry Arizona history you are way, way ahead of many here in terms of completeness, operations and rust.

We'll look forward to hearing as you go through the freshening. When possible compile your serial numbers of engine, body etc. There is a sticky at the top of this section with instruction.

I suspect this thing thown together from a bunch of different jeeps.
My Dad said there's a place there in Pakistan with piles of parts in stacks all over and they just drag parts from the various piles and put them together. It does seem to be pretty much complete though. I do have the full top for it but it's not in very good shape.

The brass Data plate on the dash is jut about unreadable and the data tag behind the passenger seat is missing. The only serial number I can find is on the title, 69525. Is the serial number stamped on the frame somewhere?

No serial stamp on the frame. You said the dash plates are barely readable?
Try a soft non-abrasive cleaner and a magnifying glass on the lower right dash plate.
