Rear Jerry can holder spacers question for M38a1

Post by hifim37 »

OK, more questions (sorry Wes) It looks to be required spacers for the jerry can mount. I think in the past I saw this mentioned. I have spent to many duckets on the Jeep already so if there are spacers what are they made from, maybe I can fabricate some up and have more money for the fuel tank !

Thanks, Eric..

P/N 7375354 per ORD 9 SNL G-740, page 307

Internet search shows:

Steel
ID 0.3900 INCHES MINIMUM AND 0.4210 INCHES MAXIMUM
OD 0.9840 INCHES MINIMUM AND 1.0150 INCHES MAXIMUM
LN 0.6250 INCHES NOMINAL

Enjoy, I'm sure aluminum would also work as well!

The only problem with aluminum is dissimilar metal corrosion. If you prime the new spacers with zinc-chromate or zinc-phosphate and finish coat them to match the jeep then use cadmium plated bolts you should have no short term corrosion problems.
