To my knowledge those are unique to a M-38 CDN... some units had them installed on the fames to allow rail transport of their vehicles...
I believe there were 4 of those on the frame and then one under each spring at the U bolts...
I made and added a set to my M-38 CDN...

So you are saying that I will have to fabricate six more of these for my wife's M38?
I will have to think on that one, do I get rid of the two I have and not mention it,
or do I fabricate six more and tell her how much I love her and that no job is
too big for her jeep!
I guess it is a bit of a stretch since she already knows me!

These tie downs are Canadian military specs and I've always heard that M38CDNs went to Cyprus with Canadian peacekeepers were equipped with them. Four were installed on the frame but I'm not sure if there were other under each spring at the U bolts. I believe that OKCM38CDN is right because I vaguely remember seeing tie downs at these places. I'll check on my first M38CDN pictures and put them on the forum.

Were these in addition to the original style four tiedowns for extra securing capability or did Canadian railways have a problem with the original US setup which worked quite well for for over 20 years on the M38 and M38A1 series produced without change from 1950 thru 1971?

my M-38 CDN. has the original style tie downs like the U.S. model. my understanding is that for overseas shipping there were tie downs attached to the spring mounts. i've not seen these particular tie downs before

That stuff looks like 1/8"
My strap was hard enough to work at 16 guage with the limited tools I have.
If it were me and was going to fab some, I'd find some tubing and weld it to some 3/16" or 1/4" strap. Thats if you dont care about being 100%. The D-rings should be failry easy to round up. You'd either have to open them up somehow and and close them back up into the tube or cut them in half at the eye then put the legs in the tube then weld the eye back together. Then dress the weld.

I have no issues with fabricating, I seem to do it almost every night in the shop.

The tie down "D" rings will be a snap, actually I think it is 3/16ths.
