My a1 and I have been attending the North Carolina Steel Soldiers rally in Denton since Thursday. And SCORE - one more piece of the M100 puzzle found! I bought the double end intervehicular cable in great shape (not brittle at all) for a little over the price of a cable end! I would have spent almost as much (plus the work) converting the one I have now. Of course this means I more have to buy the box for the front of the m100, so I really didn't save anything.

Good find. That cable was also common to several other early trailers like the early M101 3/4 ton trailer and the G592 6 ton semi-trailer.

wonder why you don't see many of them (at lest me anyway!)? One more step closer to a fully correct m100. Now I guess you guys will be getting trailer questions instead of 'a1 now

They were discontinued around 1953 and no longer stocked by the Army. So for most of the military life for these trailers (about 1953 thru 1980) the newer type cables were installed since they were all that was available off the Army shelf they are all you see today.
