Pete Debella has a double decal set (2 sets of decals in case you make a mistake) for $16 - that's the one I bought.

Hello Wes:
I purchased a set from Debella, this is what i do not understand. The square decal reads
Fram
Filter body no 5310
Filter assembly - 5103
Use Junior Element
Non of this makes sense to me as manual calls for a different fram number and canister has stamped in it Military Standard Filter only.
Standard and Junior are two different filters.. so i am confused.

The military standard oil filter series was made up of three different Mil Std filters.
1-Military Standard Senior (base mounted)(These were used on vehicles with mounting bases for their oil filters as follows: Single base 225 to 334 CuIn, double base 335 to 709 CuIn, triple base 710 to 799 CuIn.)
Uses Early Stk# 8-E-1010, AC S-12, Fram C-31, Puralator PD-50 elements.
2-Military Standard Senior (Strap Mounted)(Vehicles w/engines 225 to 300 CuIn)
Uses Early Stk# 8-E-1010, AC S-12, Fram C-31, Puralator PD-50 elements.
3-Military Standard Junior. (Light Vehicles w/engines to 224 CuIn)
Uses Early Stk# 8-E-1000, AC S-16, Fram C-21 or Puralator PD-51 elements.
5310 is the Fram PN for the round junior case (body) and 5103 is the Fram PN for the entire Junior filter assy. So if you have a Fram made Military Standard Junior filter assembly you have the correct decal set. If you have an AC or Puralator built Military Standard Junior filter assembly then you have the wrong decal set.

Hello Wes:
I picked up a filter today. Question - ord 9 shows a grommet fr-100918 at bottom (fig 1-12). New filter did not come with this grommet and my canister does not have one in it.
Where can i find this grommet or is it not needed?

I believe, if I recall correctly, they are usually a welded spacer at the bottom of the filter cannister and that removable grommet is not used. Did you look for the welded in spacer in the bottom of your cannister? If it's there you don't have a problem. If it's not then you'll need a measurement to come up with a suitable size grommet or you could weld in a spacer made from steel round stock.

back to the oil canister decals - were the inlet and outlet arrows used on the military canisters, or are they for the civilian models?

Excellent , thank you very much for the link. I placed the rectangular decal on side instead of the lid, but this confirms that they did use at least the inlet decal. I will most likely apply the outlet as well.
Thanks, Brian
