Hey Guys. I'm considering putting in a Dauntless 225 V6 into my jeep because I want to have fun with my jeep, but keep the exterior looking pretty stock. What would need to be done to make this happen? Here's the info I have so far on the possible buy.
It has a dauntless 225 V6 installed with a new clutch installed on the 90 lbs flywheel. All the running gear is from a 1970 Jeepster to include the engine trans and axels
I'm looking at earlycj5.net but not finding the information needed. I'm assuming I may need some kind of lift as the engine is bigger. A possible engine mounting plate that is modified or will fit the A1. Will it even fit though being the fact it's bigger? I won't have the water pump fan going through the radiator will I because of wheel base being shorter (I'm assuming) than they jeepster?
I just read over on G503 that it'll fit right in with no adjustmemts. Is this correct? I have come across a decent deal on a CJ5 and was considering it for fun factor. Plus I'd like to drive it to work (interstate where the speeds are 70 MPH) Any thoughts and advice?

I just realized Wes that you answered the question on the G...
Is there anything else I should know besides "If you must change from the F134 to a more modern or powerful engine then there are three that will fit right in with the existing drivetrain and mount space, two of which were already engineered by Willys/Kaiser to fit in there. The Dauntless 225 V6..."

1- You need the engine with the correct bell housing.I'm looking at earlycj5.net but not finding the information needed. I'm assuming I may need some kind of lift as the engine is bigger. 2-You do not need to lift anything. The V6 will run in the stock M38A1 chassis and tub just fine.
3-You need the side mount brackets for the frame to replace the L134 brackets. I believe you still have two choices. An old V6 CJ5 or 6 chassis or Advanced adapters/Novak.
4-You need the CJ5 or 6 V6 rear crossmember.
5-You need the V6 CJ5 or 6 radiator.
6-The T86AA or T14 tranny.
7-The 5:38 axles will work but the 4:88 or 3:73 will do much better on the highway.
8-The VJ was used in the early CJ5 which has the exact same distance between the firewall and the gill guard as the M38A1.
9-You'll need the CJ5 or 6 V6 clutch cross shaft and linkage.

The 225 will cool just fine with the stock 4cly radiator. Try to get a t14 transmission, it is much stronger than the t86. I am not sure what cross-member wes is referring to. If he means transmission crossmember the one on my brothers stock 225 v6 cj5 is the same as the one in my m38.
I know the 225 well, my brother has a cj5 with one, and before I bought my m38 I had a cj3a with one swapped in.
