I tore down my t90 transmission. It actually shows almost zero wear. Even the gear oil was clean. Of coarse I got the 88 needle bearings mixed up.
Question- is it ok to reuse the needle bearings? Shaft does show some bright spots where they were rolling, but can not feel any wear.

Are you using the overhaul manual TM 9-1804B or TM 9-8015-2 as applicable or their civvy counterparts SM1002 or SM1046?

The term feel is applied to surface inspections that offer no wear limit specs or no way to make measured comparisons of non-wear/wear sections.

The shafts should have their surface diameters both ID and OD as applicable mic'd at known non-wear points and again at known wear points so you can make a educated determination of how much wear you have. There are quite a few written specs in those manuals for you to go by. To resolve other wear issues we must rely on established allowable wear limits common in the industry.

When you can't make a determination on a wear issue it is best to take the parts in question to your local machine shop and pay a couple of bucks for them to inspect the parts and at the same time this gives you a learning opportunity.

In the interest of doing a job once and be done with it, the industry standard is to replace all bearings and bushings in overhauls of items that require a lot of labor just to get them out of the vehicle and on the bench. It is unwise to save $20 on bearings or bushings and then later have to perform 10 hours of labor to make the correction.

My TM9-8014 is not at B level, Just flat TM9-8014.

Also have TM9-8015-2

The "B" manual referred to was the M38's TM 9-1804B which is the equivalent of the M38A1's TM 9-8015-2. I listed both applications because you do not indicate which model jeep you have. You can go to your profile section and lists a more personable first name and jeep model in your signature block and that will always appear at the bottom of your posts.
