M38A1 book help needed

Post by Ryan_Miller »

OK,

So I figured we should do an M38A1 book. This is a larger task than the M38 due to the longer production run, changes made and different models produced, AND I don't have an M38A1 or M170 to take photos of parts, etc.

Photos are what I am in the most need of.

Photos need to be:

1. In focus, not blurry
2. med to high resolution
3. good lighting with not shadows crossing onto the subject
4. neutral background - put a white sheet or something below and behind what you are photographing
5. Good angle and close enough to show the subject - photo-shopping and enlarging makes many things fuzzy.
6. Parts or jeeps preferable in good condition (primer or painted one color)

Contact me if interested in contributing. Below is a short list, but I can be more specific if you contact me.

Please do not post photos up here, send them to me on my email link below AFTER contacting me to see what I need.

Fenders - early vs. late
Cowl batter box lid
Photos of M170 jeeps - all over the jeep
Photos of M38A1 - all over
Fording pictures

As you know, proceeds from our books go to keeping the website up and further jeep research.

Below is an example of a usable photo with proper lighting, subject is in the center, back ground is not good (needs to be a sheet or side of a light colored building) - photo of an M38A1 shovel mount.

Ryan, I have 2 m170s. One is a 1962 Willys (fairly original) and another one nice original made by Kaiser, year of mgf. 1967. This is the only one I know made by Kaiser, maybe one of the last produced. Claudio.
