I attended a car show last night. Sadly of the 300 entries, I was the only military and only Jeep entry there. I walked away with a winning jacket that I will never wear but the nod was appreciated.

With the M38's military background, I found it nice that the conversation was not just solely about the vehicle and its specs, but a mix of the history and the stories people bring. I did get a few that thought they knew more than the facts but I just shrug it off.

I was able to stumble thru most people's questions about the rig but I was stumped on why the fuel tank's inlet was so large. What's the lowdown?

To acommadate any size filler pipe on various government jerry cans and servicing equipment. Military combat servicing units were designed to offload very rapidly and this required higher pressures and larger diameter nozzles to increase flow rates.

And you don't want to be standing there any longer than necessary waiting for your jerry can to empty humming "The girl from Ipanema" while rounds are zinging overhead!
