Hello everyone. I finally went ahead and purchased a MT299 VRC mount for my M38. I have the diagram from Wes that shows the instillation of the VRC on the wheel house. The problem is I'm having trouble reading the type/size of bolts/nuts required for mounting the base to the wheel house, even after printing it out. I looked through a lot of posts but couldn't find one with the information I needed. I have the wood blocks and mount so I'm ready to mount it. Is there a clearer photo of the layout or is there a description of the hardware needed?

Are you reading drawing SC-D-28605? It looks like it takes 8- 5/16-24 X 1 3/4" cap screws and associated lockwahers and hex nuts, plus 4- 5/16-24 tee nuts.
If I remember my mounting correctly, the bolts and tee nuts are used to fasten the wood to the fender and the bolts and hex nuts are used to fasten the wood to the mount. You need to add some steel reinforcement under the fender.

Tee nuts - meaning wing nuts? Those are used so that you can remove the mount easily, I guess? I'm getting ready to install mine also - just got finished refinishing it. Now I have to find some red oak to make the blocks and install the power feed.

These are used for a flush fitting between the wood and the mount.

Rod in Alabama makes the wood blocks in Oak.

Does anybody happen to have his email or screen name by chance? I thought it would be easy to find oak around here and I could make my own - so far, it looks like I'm going to have to order the wood online. No cabinet shops, and the lumber yards have to order it!

I have seen the drawing SC-D-28605, and I have a doubts. Where say " Tape cords" What do they mean?

I think they mean coil the excess cord (power, antenna) and tape the coils together to keep them near and out of the way. Thank you for the compliments - I couldn't have finished it to the level it is without the help of the guys on these forums!
