For my M38A1 head gasket problem I am putting a new gasket on and when I looked at the manuals once again I noticed something I had not observed before. In the April 1954 manual there is a head bolt tightening sequence that is different than the 1955 manual. Does this mean the later manual was updated and is the one to follow? Or is it another typo on the publishers part? Or does it even matter?

The 54 manual TM 9-8015-1 Engine & Clutch Maint.
The 55 Manual TM 9-8014 Operator's manual.
The newer one is incorrect. The earlier illustration is correct when compared to the many civvy manuals that cover the F134.
Also you will note that the two manuals have the head itself reversed in the drawings.
