Gas Pedal

Anybody recognize this pedal? It's in my 67 CDN2. I was wondering if it goes with the rest of the late A1 items in my unit or its out of ???? I'm more or less going for "last used" so if anybody knows if it was standard I'll leave it although, with big boots, tromping on the brake almost always hits the top of the pedal without care and attention... The heel rest works well on long drives tho...

I think that is correct. However, it is missing the rubber overlay that was originally part of the pedal.

I'll check my '62 USMC M38A1 and see if I can get a good picture.
As far as I know it is the same gas pedal used on the CJ5 of this era.
Your right on these later M38A1's... there are lots of parts that on first glance appear to be replacement parts but really are factory originals. It can be a bit confusing in repairing them!

I own a 1967 CDN2 (67-07809) which has essentially been untouched since surplussed in 1986 and the pedal doesn't look right to me for a few reasons:
1)tool tall and skinny
2)no rubber covering
3)attachement point for gas linkage at back doesn't look right
I'll try to get out and take some pictures tomorrow.

I seriously doubt that pedal and it's rod are Willys/Kaiser at all. As mentioned above too tall, extra heel protrusion and curved rod.

Not sure what you have there after measuring the pedals on my jeeps.
The picture Wes provided is the one on my very early 1952 @ about 8 1/8th"L x 1 3/4th's"W with 3 small ribs .
My 1962 M38A1 however has a different pedal @ 9"L x 2"W with one large deep rib and a rubber overlay with fine grooves running the length.
Both are original pedals.
Among the 1962 and 1964 USMC M38A1's there are some variations on parts between the two production runs from what I have seen.
I almost bought a Canadian M38A1 (100amp) and quickly noted it was built slightly different in the details from the M38A1's I had seen before.
The pedal though does look modified with the hole cut out for the rod linkage.

The pedal change from bare metal to rubber coated occurs around MD7xxxx.
However I believe you will agree that neither pedal used a curved rod as shown in the original post.
