I have a chart from tm9-8014 that says the tranny takes one quart of oil. Does anyone know if that's one quart for both the tranny and the transfer case?
Thanks, Jim.

Not sure what chart you are looking at in TM 9-8014 but the specs on page 232, Para 192b say 2 pints tranny capacity and the specs on page 236, Para 197b say transfer capacity is 3 pints. The lube chart on pages 60-62 say the tranny and transfer each have their own fill ports and drain ports.

I'd like to jump in on this thread and ask: if you top off the transfercase and drive the Jeep. It worms the oil up and into the transmission. It then drains back into the transfercase down to the " bleed Hole." If you just keep the transfercase topped off, can you assume the tranny is full? John

Not all T90's and D18's will transfer gear oil. I would not assume here. I would stick my finger in both filler plugs to be sure.

I have pulled a few transmissions and transfer cases and found the bleed hole plugged with gunk preventing the flow of oil.
