When we removed the body from my M38 we found a single wire laying in the cowl with the metal tag marked #37, about eight inches long. It has a female capped plug on one end and a male connector on the other end. The plug mount has a hole on each corner for a screw which matches an opening on the passenger side of the fire wall. The plug would face the engine. Vehicle is 4/52. Anyone seen anything like this? thanks. tried the "G". No luck

Note the small plug in the center of this wiring diagram from early M38 Ops & Maint. Manual TM 9-804.
Note, it was discontinued after Sn MC47771. It was an accessory plug receptacle that could be use for a heater, or windshield defroster and etc. The end of the wire was connected to one of the three circuit breakers.
See this military wire number chart and copy it for future reference.

We also have the wiring number list from the U.S. Army PM magazine circa 1950's on our site in the 24Volt downloads;
