Some of you know that I got my Jeep already disassembled from its previous owner.

One of the things I got with it was this light.





He never told me where it was mounted on the M38A1. It is painted in what it looks like its original color. There are no markings on it. There is a lens mounted in the housing. Behind the lens is a sealed beam bulb like a head light that says FOG on the lower edge. The bulb and lens combination has a slight rose color to it that is hard to see in the pictures. The light is mounted on a piece of rusted steel that has a slight angle to it. Then that is mounted to a piece of angle iron. The light swivels on its mount so I think the bolt mounting is original maybe not the pieces of steel though.

If this was used on the Jeep where would it have been mounted and what would it have been used for?

Does anyone have pictures of a Fog light like this mounted to a Jeep?

You could mount them on the bumper like a fog light or how about off the windshield frame some where for spotting at night on a rotatable base?

It wouldn't do you much good as a fog light. It's a wide field short distance flood for a wrecker so they can light up the work area. It will generate as much glare in the fog as your regular headlights. If you simply must have one on your jeep then Ryan offered some way out suggestions. I would add under your hood (they were meant to illuminate the work area) or on your tailgate for a backup lamp.

My guess was that it was most likely on the rear bumper as a back up light and that it was added after the Jeep ended its life as a fire Jeep. Everything else on the Jeep was panted red except this light. It does seem large for a Fog light except that it does say Fog on the bulb. I might figure a way to mount it without drilling into something so that I can take it off if I get tired of it. I might try to get it to rotate like a spot light. If I do I will post some pictures.
