Im trying to figure out why I keep getting water in my air compressor lines. I have a filter at the tank that my lines plug into, my tools are within the specs of the compressor as far a cfm is concerned, and I drain the water out of the tank pretty regularly.

The main reason im worried about this is that I was wanting to use this compressor torun a paint gun to paint the tub when I finish the body work. If im going to get water in the line it will be useless.

The only thing I can think is that the filter I have is no good. I very rarley will have water in the trap and there will be water coming out of the line.

Anybody else have this problem?

A moisture trap installed right at the tank will miss a lot of moisture because the air is warm/hot and moisture will pass right through. Try to install the trap furthest down the line you can and that still may not help.

I have my shop plumbed with metal lines with valves for drainage and quick connnects to plug hoses into. My traps are at the end of the metal lines, with this the hot air condensates when it goes through the cooler lines and allows the traps to work and I have two traps installed in tandem.

This is just a bad time of the year for moisture in your compressed air. The hot and humid days are not a help.

I have had problems with moisture in my air lines too. I run a moisture trap before the regulator and then one right before the rubber hose reel. I still from time to time get moisture to my air tools. So when I decide to paint I attach this Desiccant Snake in line right before the air gun. I found out that it was too heavy to hold the gun for 15 to 20 min with the Snake attached to the gun so I got a small four foot hose and ran that from the Snake to the gun. That made holding it a lot easier. Here is a link to where I got it.
