Post by Hornsgalore »

Needing some tips on getting my F134 to top dead center. Also would like to get the firing order? I believe it is correct but not sure. Thanks

Have you downloaded and read the TM 9-8014 M38A1 Operator's & Maintenance Manual? Start with Sect V Page 99 Engine description & maintenance.

TM 9-8014: http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... tit&lid=86

TM 9-8015-1 Engine & clutch Mx.: http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... tit&lid=85

Simply put, locating #1 TDC is accomplished by removing all four plugs, while holding someone's thumb over the #1 plug hole turn the engine by hand in it's normal direction of rotation (the direction that would have the fan blowing air towards the engine) until you feel strong air pressure forcing the thumb off the hole. Stop and look at the timing marks on the front of the engine. They should almost read TDC. Continue to the TDC mark and voila.
