Vacuum line valves and restrictors
OK, I have engine No MC 65--- something, it's in the garage and I can't remember at the moment, I think off the top of my head I have serial No MC24 er something or other. Oddly Wes has all the details and I don't at the moment!!
I'm trying to rebuild the system to the 'late' vent configuration. This has meant me getting the intake maifold drilled and tapped to take the vacuum draw off line as somehow the engine was rebuilt with a manifold with a blank casting where that threaded hole should have been
I have the head off at the moment and I'm finally getting round to fitting the correct carb.
The in-line vacuum draw restrictor with the 0.040 port I can make, a 0.040 drill is proving impossible to get hold of but I figure it's pretty close to 1.00mm which I can get.
So my questions are.....
What is the check valve that goes in the centre section of the vac pump, is this in the pump or is it in the pressure line?
Has anybody got a picture of the vacuum line and fitting where it enters the intake manifold as I can't find a clear picture.

The 0.040" fitting does not need o be exact, I made mine and went as close as I could with what I had at the time...
As for the check valve, Remi was sellng them... it goes in the line from the center side of the fuel/vaccum pump to the Bell housing/transfer case. Dirst there is a 1/4" nipple, then a 1/4" elbow and then the valve. This is the only place I know of that a standard flare is used on the jeep... If you can't find the valve just get a 1/4" pipe to 3/16" flare adapter and solder the center up... it will not work but will look proper...
If you can't find this fitting let me know I can get them at the local hardwares store...

You shouldn't completey block off the vent on the fuel pump with a dummy fitting that's soldered shut.

Thanks for the help, I'll contact Remi (though where I'll get Canadian dollars I have no idea).
Please help my understanding,
does the line from the centre of the pump to the top of the transfer box just provide positive pressure to pressurise those components and the bell housing. OR... those it pull vacuum from the transferbox. Or... does it just allow expanding air volume to escape???
Is the check valve to stop expanding gases pushing back along into the centre section of the pump?
I've read again and again the stuff from the links.
Until 12 hours ago I thought I knew what I was doing.
During its Mil rebuild the fitting on the transfer box was simply fitted with a valve similar to what you get on diff pumkins.

What is the difference between a Plug in that port and a Dummy fitting...?
I run mine that way and all is fine... it looks right but is just plugged...
I know that it should have the valve there, but I was having oil (Transfer case) getting into the pump... faulty valve or something... I plugged it till I can get the pump rebuilt...

If you're getting transfer case gear oil all the way up to the fuel pump you definately have a problem. One I've never heard of before. That ball check is suppose to prevent anything getting into the pump's center section and the vent is there to let any buildup of pressure escape before it can damage a diaphram. If you are getting transfer gear oil there with the ball valve installed then the ball valve must be backwards or sticks open.
The standard procedure for that vent hole is to use a differential housing vent in it when not connecting fording plumbing to it. Another nice touch with having a vent firring installed there is a ruptured or failing diaphram will be noticed more quickly by the oil or gas leaking from the vent.

Fittings
I have both the .040 fittings and the pump/axle vent check valves in stock. Check valves are NOS and the restrictor fitting, I make.
