M38 CJ3A Front timing cover

Hi there,
it seems that the connection thread of my front engine cover (oil line) is damaged (worn out) an I need another cover.
So I thought that all L-engine covers will work but a friend of mine told me only to take a timing gear cover from a M38/CJ2-A/CJ-3A or Hotchkiss.
Is somebody here which is familiar in this topic?
