i ruined both hubs on my m38, one is cracked around keyway groove and the other is push out around the keyway. today I went by two 4x4 shops and a guy who rebuilds differentials, transfer and trans shop. all three shops recommended to just weld them up and smooth back out.

before i do this i was just curious on what everyone thought about this procedure. thxs

Mike's on Towson Avenue in Fort Smith got my M38
running again. They were fast and reasonable. It was
a fuel pump problem.

Mine were cracked there too. I just replaced them because I thought they would crack again if welded. I didn't want to go back and . Aren't thy cast iron? I'm not sure. You need a press to put the luggs back in for sure.
