I installed a full enclose canvas kit on my m38a1 about two years ago. always kept inside the gargage and driven very little only for jeep shows. now since the new has kinda wore off im wanting to start driving it more. don't drive it much since its so hot in the summer time. been thinking about removing the canvas and store it away for awhile and put it on the road. but alittle hesitate to take off and store away in fear of canvas shrinkage and being a pain in the arse to reinstall.

anyone out there with there canvas stored away and not shrinking, if so what the best way to store to keep from shrinkage? thxs

I have a top for my M38A1 but it hasn't been installed in years. I took it off so I could SEE around the jeep when driving - lots of blind spots with the top on. But, when I have reinstalled it, it was a little tighter but nothing that would prevent me from getting it on. A couple of good drives to let it flap 'n snap around loosened it up again. Store it in a cool, dry place with good air movement and away from mice - they got to the cover for my M416. Otherwise, topless is the way to ride.

I don't have a full enclosure but have a winter top fashioned as a summer top. I do find it much more pleasant to drive with it on, for shade, under in hot the summer sun.

I plan on taking it off in the fall though. Here in Utah, we don't have a humidity problem and we are the #2 driest state, so I plan to just toss it in a bag and chuck it the garage somewhere.

here in Arkansas it get pretty hot and humid. cost a lot of money for the canvas and just don't wont to have to buy more. I may make cardboard leeves and slid the doors and sides in and store in my gargage.

Might want to keep them in the house somewhere.....

There's a product called Fresh Cab rodent repellent, designed
to keep in the cab of your pick-up. I use it here on the farm and
it works to a degree. I also throw a pouch of it in the bag with my
canvas to deter mice.. Any farm/ranch store has it.

One of the easiest to use mouse deterrents is Camphor balls.

Defintion of camphor ball, mothball. (n):
A small sphere of camphor or naphthalene used to keep moths away from stored clothing.

i'll prob keep the doors and side curtains in the garage. for 3 yrs since building my garage haven't seen any thing but spiders. had bait out the whole time and nothing has touch the bait. as long as it doesn't shrink so I can reinstall, then ithink im ok.

well I took the canvas off the jeep, decided to put the doors and curtains in flat cardboard boxes and store them under the bed in spare bedroom. that way there stay cool and dry.
