my m38 is leaking gear oil out of the speedo gear on the side of transfer. cable isn't hook up yet just rolling the chassis out side and back in. when I start the jeep. is this normal or should I need to replace something. thxs

The cable, spacer and cap seal the hole. No cable and cap then your gonna have a leak. Especially if the fluid level is high or full.
