In a much older post, that I cannot find, Wes K post several links to online sources for bearings. Wes, if you have that handy or anyone else, can you please post that again? I am having trouble getting transmission and transfer case bearings from my local parts store. I can just google a source but do appreciate your advice on a quality company to order through.
Thanks, John

I deal primarily with Bearing Headquarters. You can also go to Timken's web p[age and find a local dealer: http://www.timken.com/en-us/purchase/Pages/default.aspx

bearings
farmerjohn, I have used a place here in Rolla Mo called Missouri Power Transmission and have always got good service and results, both on bearings and seals. They have a website that shows they have a location in columbia. Phone # 573 414 1446. There is also a map showing directions. They have helped me by measuring old bearing and seals as well as matching numbers. Most times their prices are better than the parts store.

As a 35 year National Guard jeep mechanic friend once pointed out... many basic original jeep parts are still in production. What has changed is their part number.
There was a directory from Portrayal Press that listed all these changes over the years but the revisions to this booklet started running out as the parts started getting pulled from regular store shelves in the 1980's making updates much harder to keep up with for regular folks outside the trade.

Imagine this... when I first got into jeeps we had a local Jeep dealer who also happened to be one of the very first Jeep dealers too. They sold some of the first CJ2A's.
When you needed a part you could go into the parts department and get just about anything even MB/GPW parts right off the shelf. I once bought a brand new still in the box air cleaner and carb for a 1942 GPW I drove at the time. Tons and tons of WWII parts you could walk out the door with for your WWII jeep. It was amazing even then.
In the early 1990's they had a big auction and sold off their entire inventory of early jeep parts. CJ5 tubs brand new in the crate circa 1967. It was nearly endless. It was a huge event at the time. Folks like Peter DeBella, etc. are probably now selling some of their parts now.
