Before and After

My first and last restoration. I am too old and disabled to do it again. 1952 M38a1 2 years, 1600+ hours work. Typical resto. No floors, rotten wheelhouses, etc. I dismantled it, sandblasted it, welded in all new steel etc. The only things I sent out was the radiator to get boiled out and leak tested, the vacuum/fuel pump to get rebuilt, and new glass installed. The rest I did. It's has no bondo, new wiring harness, new brake lines, wheel cylinders, tires, seats and on and on and on. Haven't totaled up the receipts yet. Kinda don't want to know. One lesson I learned. I paid $1200 for the jeep 2 years ago. I waited till I was done to title it. Assessor valued jeep at $15,000 now. That's what I had to pay taxes on! It runs and rides great.Image

It looks fantastic, and I'm proud of you! You did a great job and saved another old Jeep. I know when you drive it around the block you'll have a grin from ear to ear as people watch you drive by. Drive it in good health.

Thank you all for nice comments. Here is my co-pilot. She likes Grumpy's Jeep. She helped me. (I had to cut way back on my colorful language.)

Very nice job.

Great to be able to spend quality time with the Kiddos on something that may outlive us.

I guess if there was anything going right, all you had to do to letter was put stick on letters on the yellow, prep and paint, then remove the stickers!

LOL!

That looks great. Working on my USMC M38A1 project. It will be a re-creation of my dad's in Vietnam. Must be nice to see it completed and drive it.

Gives me incentive to get back to work on mine.

Thanks for posting.
