Stolen M38 found in Spokane WA

Post by wesk »

Here's a story with a good ending. I hope Gary becomes a member of our web site and shares his jeep story with us!

Steve Heidal hugs his mother, Patty, while his father, Gary, looks over their 1951 Jeep that was found Wednesday in north Spokane. The Jeep had been stolen, and the family was distraught because the vehicle had been in their family for 39 years.

Good News, and accurate reporting:

According to an Internet site, 62,000 M38 Jeeps were cranked out between 1950 and 1952 to meet the Korean War demand.

Attesting to its military roots, the Jeep came with a manual explaining where to put explosives in case of “enemy overrun.”

You won’t find that in a sissy Prius.

I read the "wont find that in a sissy Prius" quote and I laughed for a good hour after

Yep, bullets, cannon fire, and explosives, depending on what's available.

Haven't seen that in any of my Detroit owners' manuals either!
