solex carb

when i put this carb on it worked fine that was 2 years ago. it hasnt ran much . while i been rebuilding the jeep. just start and let it run for awhile. Now it runs as long as the choke is pulled out ( I know its not really a choke on these carbs) wont run if the choke is opened up. i have replaced the fuel pump and filter. i think the fuel pump was the problem all along but not sure how to adjust this carb

Sounds like a fuel problem as you have surmised. More air kills it

Hate to ask the question but does it have ethanol blend gas in it and the tank?

The deposits left behind by weathering ethanol blend gas are much worse than regular gas.

You may be looking at a rebuild.

no the tank was taken out cleaned. new fuel line and pump and filter. i have the old carb might rebuilsd it . but this thing ran fine for awhile now its junk

sounds like the idle circuit is plugged unless you have a vacuum leak of course. i had one of those on my gpw for a while #@$%@ thing never worked right as new, it was missing the accelerator pump outlet check valve. the pump diaphragm was really cheesy. i heard they were good carbs.probably are if they were made by solex. mine i got from 4 wheel wholesalers and i suspect it was a chicom repop. if you have an air compressor you can try and blow out the passage behind the mixture screw. but dont do this with the float installed. barring that i think you need to take it apart for a thorough cleaning, you might get by with the old gaskets if you dont break them. have a good day i hope this helps.

They were originally manufactured in Europe but most of the 32/34 series we find for our jeeps were license built in India.
From the Wiki: Solex carburetors were until the mid-1980s used on many European cars including Rolls-Royce Motors, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Audi, Ford, BMW, Citroen, Opel, Simca, Saab, Renault, Peugeot, Lancia, Lada, Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Volkswagen and Porsche. Solex carburetors have been made under licence by a number of companies including Mikuni of Japan, who supplied them to auto makers including Toyota, Mitsubishi and Suzuki as well as to various Japanese motorcycle makers. Mikuni originally entered into a licensed manufacturing agreement with Solex in 1960, and further developed many of Solex's original designs.

The Solex brand is now owned by Magneti Marelli. The original Solex company changed its name in 1994 to Magneti Marelli France and on May 31, 2001, Magneti Marelli France partially bought its assets (including the trademark SOLEX) from Magneti Marelli Motopropulsion France S.A.S.
The company has a complex history because of their motorcycle and electric vehicle brands branching out to other companies scattered worldwide.

They are not a bad carb. They just require a different touch to be maintained and adjusted properly. Unfortunately when you buy a new one today it only comes with a single page of data.

Have you reviewed the on-line data for these two carbs (M32PBIC for the L134 and the M34PBIC for the F-134)
