On this thread we discussed my powr loc diffs and drifted off to a discussion
about an unexplained "clunk" I was hearing and never fully resolved.

I recently had the opportunity to get it on a lift to install an OD and
what did I-spy?? The rt rear brake backing plate was loose and was
rocking slightly fore and aft with the drag of the shoes. I apparently
snugged the bolts up "finger tight" and forgot to tighten 'em down when
I installed the plate  tightened it all up and quiet as can be.
Live and learn-time to put this thread to bed..

It reminds me of an old saying we had in the service. "Do not put it halfway together. All the way or none at all lest you forget and someone dies." Of course that was in aviation but steering, brakes & suspension errors can also kill. A lesson well learned and learned at very little expense. Thanks for sharing.
