Installed some Trac Locs in my M38A1!

Been a while since I posted. I did just move from PA to NY, so I've been a little busy.
Herm the overdrive guy talked me out of Powertrax lock right lockers. He had some original Trac Locs that he rebuilt and I was happy to take them. I had to change the rear axle shafts to 19 spline, they were 10 spline, the rear hubs were warped and I replaced them with some good take outs also from Herm, and one of the rims was bent, so I swapped it out with my spare. I will eventually replace it. That all done, I took my Jeep out today and it rode better than ever. Unfortunately I'll have to put it away soon before it snows, but the weather is holding out for now. I can't seem to post photos, but here it is in a link-

It is a nice looking jeep! Maybe that is the way they should have gone with the CJ and M38A1 instead of phasing them out.

It is a M38A1! The CJ5's were just the civilian version. After the CJs, when Chrysler bought the company, I didn't consider it a jeep anymore. I hear now Fiat is going to buy it from Chrysler, which could be even worse.

YOUR NEW LOCKERS

I have been considering lockers myself. Can you give me an idea of the cost and time involved? Also, were you able to test them off-road? Thanks, David

I was going to install lock rights. Herm the Overdrive guy hermtheoverdriveguy.com/ had rebuilt trac locks, and he convinced me those were way better. The loc rights were around $400 each, slightly less for the Dana 25 front. The Trac Locs were about $450 each. I had to switch the rear Dana 44 axle from 10 spline to 19, but otherwise they went in like a charm. We had 36" of snow here one day, and I was the only guy getting around. Jeeps usually suck in the snow, but the lockers made it unstoppable.
