I HAVE USED THE 51 SERIES BATTERY IN THE SMALL COWL AND THE 51R SERIES UNDER THE HOOD BOX

Thx for all the input I bought 1- 51 AND 1 -51 R from NAPA just what the doctor ordered buzzzzzzzzzzzz

I have started using the 51R in place of the 2HN. They are standard in a lot of rice boxes so the prices of a good battery are less than half of the originals.
Height is about a half inch shorter.
The down side is that the length and width are smaller so you'll have to come up with a way of securing it. The original hold-down is too large, allows the battery to shift and can short the two terminals in a very bad way.
On the list of projects is to make a small tray adaptor and new hold downs so that the 51R fits and secures in a way that looks correct.
