Certainly most of you are familiar with the story of "Reckless", the little (but big of heart) Mongolian mare that huffed 75MM recoilless rifle shells
up to gun crews for days at a time during the Koeran "conflict". Santa was kind enough to delight me with 2 accounts regarding this outstanding horse. Good reads

I wonder if any of you retired Leathernecks had the opportunity to meet Reckless in the field or at Pendleton..

Hi Rick,
Because of your posting I picked up a copy of the Reckless book today. I was at a monthly flea market today that I frequent often (and have probably overlooked this book many times). My son stopped at this booth to look at a copy of a Earnest Thompson Seton book when I spotted the cover of this book and remembered your posting. It is the 1955 hardback copy of "Reckless Pride of the Marines" by Andrew Geer. It is an ex-library copy so I talked her down from $12.50 to $10. I just looked these books up on Bookfinder.com, and wow this edition is worth a little bit ($1100 is some cases).
Thanks for the recommendation. And did you know Breyer made a model of Sergeant Reckless?

Kendall, nice find!! I haven't had the opportunity to read that one yet. In 1955 when that was written Reckless was still an active duty Marine.
Lt Col Geer's career intertwined with Reckless' own for many years.
Happy Reading!!
