Have a rebuilt L134 that i've started running. I have a drip coming from front plate above oil pan in front of the starter. I don't see it coming from anywhere else. Is there something there that can be causing this??? Retightened front plate bolts but haven't run it yet. Doesn't do it while running, only after its been shut down a few minutes.

There is a freeze plug on the back side of the engine behind the bell housing if I remember correctly.

Have you traced the leak to inside the bell housing?

There is a bell housing adapter plate BEHIND the starter. Then there is a front mount plate in front of the generator. If you mean towards the front of the engine the water pump has a weep hole for it's packing/seal. If you didn't rebuild the pump or have a new one installed then I would start there. If you mean on the right side of the engine then there are 2 or 4 freeze plugs depending on the engine block you have. There is the head gasket above that can leak and the water temp probe/sender in the side of the head towards the rear.

OOOPS, my bad. The drip isn't coming from the water pump, head gasket or freeze plugs. Where the front plate meets the block in front of the generator it weeps a bit after shut down. Can't see it running from anywhere else.

As I said above the water pump is your source for a leak there. It's extremely hard to see behind the pulley well enough to distermine if it's the water pump shaft seal or the hose connection or the pump to block gasket. I will bet it is one of these. You may want to run her till warm and fluid is circulating freely through radiator then shut her down and immediately remove the fan so you can see better or use a quality inspection mirror and light.

Wes is probably right. There are several small avenues it could run down to before you see it at the engine plate.

I would look real hard at the water pump. They are known for leaking.

Thanks Guys. I had the pump rebuilt and I didn't feel anything wet there when I ran my hand under the pump but makes sense. Tough to get a good look at front of engine with everything down there. Just finished repairing the fire damage from the wire that grounded on the metal fuel line. Always remember to make sure any unused wires are capped REALLY well.

It could be the water pump gasket and not the water pump.
