Found this on an early A1 frame I have. Did the normal internet searching and looked at all the pictures. Also looked at the website that is all about skid plates. From what I saw I believe this is an M38 skid plate because it doesn't have the half circle cut out for the drive shaft and all the holes look the same as what I found. I just wanted to confirm my assumption here before I try to sell it. Thank you for looking.

I just re-installed my M38 skid plate after having it straightened by a machine shop. It had a accumulated a few bends in it's previous life as a fire dept brush truck. It looks exactly like the one in your photo. I believe you have a M38 plate. I also have a M38A1 and it's plate does have the extra half-moon cutout.

Is the whole M38 plate supposed to be flat?

The plate is supposed to have a slight bend upwards in the front quarter and a small bend upward about an inch from the rear. The rest is is flat. If you buy the book "M38 Reference Guide" by Ryan Miller (see main page of this website) it has a pic of the plate on page 102. The book has many excellent photos and details of M38 parts, configurations and model changes - an invaluable source of info for a M38 owner.
