Trying to track down a carb for my '54 M170. Looked through all the parts suppliers and called several. I have so many problems with people having any knowledge of an M170.
Any idea where I could find an aftermarket carb without spending a fortune?

The correct military YS950S is not that hard to find and is a bit pricey some places. The YF-938SD (replaced all the earlier series YF-938S, SA, SC F-134 civvy carbs) civvy carb is easier to find and less pricey. Anyone of the four will work. The aftermarket (built in India) Solex M34PBIC is ok but does require some re-arranging of linkage and is not my personal choice for any jeep.

Is there a model number for the Civvy carb since its easier to find and less pricey? I've searched everywhere online and cannot seem to locate one of these....are there no aftermarket distrubutors or do I have to track down an original?

I believe Wes gave you four civvy options:
