Block plug -oil line

Post by 4x4M38 »

My 1950 M38 has hard oil lines from the filter
to the block. The input line runs from the
fitting at back left where the gauge line goes.
I am working to install the flexible line to
the front left block fitting.

Currently there is a plug in the block at that
location with a recessed square in it.
I can't get the smallest ratchet or other
tool in it.

What size is that plug recess and what do
folks use to remove it?

Thanks!

Square pipe plug tools come in several sizes. You measure the width of the square hole and select the appropriate size tool.

Wow, Wes,
I had no idea those things existed. I was thinking of some small
steel square stock.

I don't think my local NAPA carries them.

I'll measure and get on line in the morning.
Thank you.
