M38A1 idle problem

Post by MG777 »

Hi to all my M38a1 started having high rpm at idle. Meaning that even when i don't press the pedal the rpm`s are higher than normal.
Been driving my m38a1 every day the past month

What could be causing this ?
Thank you for help

Does your jeep have the hand throttle installed? Check to make sure the control is all the way in.

.....And adjusted correctly. Also check the pedal and linkage for free movement and binding.

The quick check is to disconnect the throttle controls from the carb and see if the carb lever goes to a normal idle speed. If she does the carb and leaking vacuum is not the problem. Then connect the main foot feed to carb control and if she still idles correctly the problem is in the hand throttle adjustment.
