The patent plate found behind the pass seat.

This is for a 1950 early contract. The plates varied based on serial number/DOM.

The top right plate also differed between with & without winch.

Just google: "military data plates"

Hello Wes,
My early M38 does not appear to have screw holes for the winch
plate on the dash. Is there another way to confirm it did not have
one other than no PTO or other hardware?

Is there a different ORD serial number?

Tks,
Brian

Hello Bob,
The plates are available through most MV suppliers and there
is a guy in Austin that can stamp the numbers using the correct
stamps. Advertises through the local MVPA group.

If it left Willys with a winch it would have had two plates marked "w/winch" in addition to the square PTO operation plate.

Lower right serial plate similar to this if newer than 1950/early51.

Upper right

There was no variation in jeep serial number because it had a winch. Only Willys/Kaiser serial numbers were used.
