Frame painting question.

I copied and enlarged the black and white photo above and the hood
number appears to have an "N" in it also. At first I thought it was an "X",
however after enlarging and sharpening it a bit it looks more like an N.

Interesting, more mystery with these jeeps, who would have thought.

Or maybe the air force made them up, just to confuse us jeep restorers.
