Thanks for the information on the frame! It will for sure need to be double checked and corrected. And sorry for the late reply! The front rails are splayed out a little where they added the flat crossbar. Plus by the looks of the roll cage that was in it, it may have been at least turned on it’s side..

The trans crossmember looks to be intact and in its original location. Although, and I know there’s no support in the front with the engine missing now, it seems awful flimsy…. I’ll double check it all good when I get the trans/transfer case out. With Fathers Day weekend, storms and now it being 392 degrees outside. I didn’t get much further. The skid plate is there and isn’t too bad with the exception that it appears they torched off an inch or two for clearance. I think I can fix it, I just need to figure out if there are dimensions anywhere on the skid plate.

As far as the stampings, I know they weren’t factory. But here is what I can remotely get a picture of. It’s hard to get a camera to see iit, They are easier to see with the eye. I think it’s says 52843? which matches what numbers I can see on the tub body plate. There are tons of engravings there as well. But I just can’t make out everything. Still working on pulling them out, the blueing trick didn’t work so well…. The frame appears to have been sandblasted, due to the texture and it is steel, primer and that weird gold paint….

if there is any depth at all, even half a millimeter, you could try using a wax crayon. just work it over the area and then wipe the surface and it should stay in the depressions.

Mike,

Images are normally stored in your photo album in three sizes.

1 - Thumb print on your opening page.
2 - a half size when you left click on the thumb print.
3 - original full size when you left click on your half size.

When you left click on the full size you go back to your half size. Always use the half size when adding a photo to your posts. The correct way to do that is select your half size. Right click on it then go to you post left click twice on the img icon and these will appear: Image then right click between the Image and paste your photo link there.

As for making worn metal numbers show up better you can rub a colored material in them or you can go to a machine shop and collect some fine steel filing powder. Sprinkle it on the numbers then run a strong magnet below the numbers to erect the steel powder particles.

Thanks for the help on the pictures. Had some glitches on that one, but I’ll pay more attention!

I’ve tried the rubbings with different materials. Either the engravings are too faint or the pitting/scratches around them pick up the material and I still can’t make out the letters. I’ll definitely try the metal shavings idea! And I also bought a pocket microscope I’m going to try.

Go look at the For Sale page. Lyle has some floor panels and stuff you probably need.
