HAS ANYBODY REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT UPPER SHOCK MOUNT ON A M38, AND IF SO HOW DID YOU DO IT?

The threaded part of one of my rear mounts had snapped off:
I didn't replace the complete mount, just the "pin". I ground the welds off as best I could, and took the biggest pipe wrench I could find to rotate the "pin" loose. Once the welds are cracked, it's a relatively simple clean-up job with the angle grinder and a drill. I had a couple of spare mounts lying around, so welded in the "pin" out of one of those (I suppose you could make a new pin though):
Of course, the above will only work if your upper shock mount (the bit that rivets onto the frame) is in good useable condition. Hope this helps.

I did this back in 2003.
I wrote an article with detailed photos on the spring perch repair on the frame, but I did the same thing on the shock mount.
It is in the downloads section:

I just cut the welds holding the threaded pin, then took a grade 8 bolt, machined threads on the end and cut the head off the bolt, then welded it in place.
Worked great and did not have to cut the bracket off and then find another bracket.
Any machine shop can convert a grade 8 bolt to look exactly like the old threaded pin.
