m170 driveshaft slip joint grease seals

Whats the trick to replacing driveshaft slip joint grease seal? No sure how to get the old seal over the splines? Also is there a source for new seals?

Shouldn't need any tricks. The seal is a cork split washer and the backup ring is a split steel washer as well. Just open and spread at the split and slip over skinny part of shaft. Slide the threaded cap on first! I didn't see any listed ant where. The dimensions are given in the ORD 9

Page 207 - 8333061 Seal, plain rubber split, 1" ID x 1 37/64" OD x 5/16" Thick. supersedes 7702465

Page 208 - 7772465, Washer, split cork 1" ID x 1 37/64" OD x 5/16" Thick. Superseded by 8333061

Walck's has the civvy felt sleeve which should also work:
