Hello:
Does someone have an exploded view of the M38a1/ M170 transfer case mount snubber and its hardware. I purchased replacement isolators, but something doesn't seem correct.

Quite certain this is the order of arrangement.
You'll notice the special washer on the second row to the right.

The greasy thing second from the bottom is the cup that's spot welded to the cross member. Ths would be your order of reference.

Couple Questions:

1) Should large isolator sit on top of frame cup or fit down inside it. The replacement one i have sits on top? My old one looked like it sat down in cup.
2) 3rd row down, second over, i have two of these, does that sound correct?
3) what is second row down, 2nd and 3rd over? My replacement isolator has a ring and washer molded in it.
4) are these kits available?

the large isolator should fit snug within the cup.

Yes, one goes atop and the other fits at the bottom of the small isolator.

3) what is second row down, 2nd and 3rd over? My replacement isolator has a ring and washer molded in it.

The newer repro kits do have the metal washers and associated seats integrated into the rubber casting.
Therefore, you'd only require the flat washers for the bolt when fed from the bottom and the lock-nut which secures the transfer case.

4) are these kits available?

the snubber components in my pic are original that i had re-plated.

Another question:

Does ring, second row down and second over fit down inside frame cup?
My replacement ring, molded in large isolator, does not fit inside and this may be my trouble spot.

Your old ring from your old rubber may be stuck in your crossmember.

Just as well Wes. your diagram skills far exceed my novel patience for photoshop and the like. I did start the overlay for the image file but alas, my employer beckoned.

I've come across this dilemma with 4 units.. the old ring (band) just rust fuses in that cup.

Yep, old ring is stuck in there . I media blasted and painted x member so it looked like part of the frame..ha.. Thanks for the help in solving mistery. Now to get old ring out...

After closer inspection, i actually had 3 pcs of item 6. 2 were on 1 side and 1 on oposite side.

Brian, try heating the band with a torch. This should break the rust adhesion to the cup. At this point, you should be able to pry it out easily.
